Our Clinic

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What can I expect on my first visit?

Come to the clinic at least 15 mins before your appointment time. Bring any referrals or results of tests that you have. Our admin staff will greet you and ensure we have all your information accurately. You'll be asked to review a consent to treatment form and be clear on our billing policies.

Expect to spend a minimum of 45–90 minutes at the clinic for your visit; later visits will be shorter. Once paperwork is done your physiotherapist/other provider will talk through your problems, do an examination, then discuss and/or start treatment.

2. What do I need for clothing?

Physiotherapy is a hands on profession, and your visit will include physical examination. We need to see how you move, and get a thorough look at you. Please bring shorts or alternate for any low back and lower body problem, and a T shirt for any upper body problem. For female patients with any upper body problem, a sleeveless top or camisole type top works well. In the winter, the clinic is outdoor shoe free, so bring alternate shoes or slippers if not happy in socked feet.

3. What types of treatment can I expect?

After thorough assessment, your treatment plan may include hands on treatment such as manual therapy and soft tissue work to move your joints, and prescribed exercise. Education is a large part of treatment, as is compliance with your treatment plan when out of the clinic. We also use other treatment agents like laser, electrotherapy and acupuncture if appropriate. Your treatment provider will discuss with you what's going to help your condition.

4. Who pays for treatment?

Unless funding for treatment is preapproved, such as a motor vehicle claim, expect to pay for services at each visit. Many patients have coverage for physio and massage through extended health care plans. You pay us for services, then submit the receipt to your insurer. We cannot bill on your behalf except for motor vehicle related claims. Payment may be made by credit card (Visa, MC), interac, and cheque. To carry a balance at the clinic, we require a valid credit card on file. To reserve your initial visit, we require a valid credit card on file, as we are holding a therapist's schedule open for you. Physician services are covered by OHIP, but you must bring a valid Ontario Health Card for your visit.

5. How do I reach the clinic to change/make appointments?

Ideally, when you leave the clinic you will have your next appointment made. You can call at any time 416 691 3943 ext. 0 to reach reception. We try hard to personally answer all calls but the clinic is busy. Please don't hang up if you can't reach the reception directly, as we will not know you've called. We will try to call back within 2 hours. As a current patient, you can email the clinic for appointments at: reception@mytorontophysio.com

6. What's the cancellation policy?

We ask for 8 business hours notice for cancellation or changes. Missed appointments will be billed a no show fee of $50 unless for emergency/adverse weather/unexpected illness.
